These days a lot of importance is given to clean and environment friendly nations by us. We all prefer to live, see, or just spend some of our time with these countries. After all, nature and mankind go hand in hand. Today, everybody wants to live and breathe in a clean environment. All of us do.

Cleanliness and hygienic of a Country are a very good way of judging the discipline of that country and its people. With the advent of technology and the industrial revolution that has taken place recently, the natural beauty of this amazing world has altered to a significant degree. The environment of a country can translate the growth, current situation, quality and advancement of a country and also makes a good picture of the lifestyles of its inhabitants. If the atmosphere and surroundings of a country are polluted, dirt is in the skies, roads are muddy or unpaved, we tend to feel there is an urgent need of development for that place. So we say that the country itself is underdeveloped and its people need to contribute to the cleanliness and wellness of this society in a more meaningful way. Not only it casts an impression that is bad, societies with poor hygiene have to cope with diseases and viruses of many kinds. And it all results in the overall not-so-good image of that country.

Having said that, there are still quite a few countries which are very neat and clean, hence setting up an example for the rest of the World. Here, we take a look at a list of The Top 10 Cleanest Countries of the World 2015. The following list is based on the environmental index of countries and the most desirable places to settle in.

France

France is one of those few countries these days that has been actively indulged in improving its environment in particular. Probably that is the reason we all feel “Love is in the Air” whenever we visit France.

Even the French Government has been taking significant steps to secure its environment from pollution for a lot of years now. They have introduced some strict policies to make sure that the atmosphere stays clean and clear. And their policies are not only limited to just France. It really does make a difference when the government itself takes major steps to improve something. So, we rate France as the 10th cleanest country of the world for 2015.

Cuba

Another island country and the first one from the Caribbean comes here in the list of cleanest countries. The cleanliness and hygienic parameters are directly linked to the existence of beaches, lakes and greenery in this island nation. Human penetration in infrastructural expansion is negligible, hence maintaining its natural form in the best possible manner.

Even though it is one of the cleanest in terms of atmosphere, the standard of living is not up to the mark     due to some corrupt economy. An underdeveloped country as of now, Cuba boasts of its very good health figures overall. We are going to rate Cuba as the 9th Cleanest Country of the World.

Switzerland

Happy, Peaceful and Safe Environment. These three things come naturally to the most natural country of the World, Switzerland. One of the very few places on Earth that has successfully maintained a great balance between nature and human development. And that is the reason we call Switzerland, “A Heaven on Earth”. This wonderfully beautiful country has been divided into the following three zones:

The Swiss Plateau
The Jura
And of course, the well-known Alps

Other than that, Switzerland too has been particularly active and specific about their national and international environmental strategies. The country intensely promotes national and international strategies that effect a cleaner environment, just like France. Therefore, we are ranking Switzerland as the 7th Cleanest Country of the World.

Costa Rica

Officially known as the Republic of Costa Rica, this beautiful little paradise is located in Central America. Thanks to the US development program and the continuous efforts made by the nation itself, Costa Rica has managed to organize a magnificent infrastructure and water sanitation program that has hugely contributed in making this country a real paradise on Earth.

The Republic of Costa Rica might not be the number one in this list of cleanest countries, but it has achieved a status of the “Greenest Country” of the world currently. With an index score of just about 87 on the environmental performance index, Costa Rica has achieved 6th position in the list of Cleanest Countries.

Sweden

A Scandinavian country located in Northern Europe, Sweden is another one of those European countries that takes the planning and implementation of rules that help the environment thrive. Officially known as the Kingdom of Sweden, this beautiful country has been putting some herculean efforts to keep their country clean and hygienic.

Other than being one of the cleanest, Sweden has a superb literacy rate as well which makes it a terrific holiday destination and a great place to permanently settle in because of all the good reasons. They have extremely strict rules and regulations for cleanliness and waste management, so that helps as well. All of these factors put Sweden at number 5 in our list of Cleanest Countries.

Norway

Another Scandinavian country known as the Kingdom of Norway, this country is one of the strongest economies in the World. And is one of the richest countries in the World as well. Mountains, rivers, forests and lakes – Norway is all about these natural bodies of beauty and magnificence. More than 30% of the country is covered by forests, rivers and lakes. To go with these, the mountain ranges of Norway are one of the most beautiful in the World. We have got the Europe’s highest vertical and overhanging rock face of 1,000 meters.

The most obvious country in Europe when it comes to holidays is Norway. The most natural country in the World. Crystal clear glaciers, water bodies, greenery all are symbols of the beauty of this country, and obviously that all comes just because of extreme cleanliness of the country. This puts Norway at Number 4 in our list.

Mauritius

Finally, we have a country outside of Europe, even though it was once part of Europe. But now, officially the Republic of Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent, Mauritius is one of the most probable holiday destinations because of its fresh air and clean waters. And it comes naturally to them being an island nation.

Diseases and health issues have been rare in Mauritius. Mauritius is also one of the most popular honeymoon destinations for all the good reasons. We rank Mauritius as the 4th Cleanest Country in the World for 2015.

Austria

Very well known for its crystal clear environment and soothing air, Austria is a small landlocked country in Central Europe with a population of about 9 million. Talking of environment, Austria once recorded a score of a perfect 100 on the environment index. The government again plays a key role in making sure the policies are made to make sure the environment keeps untouched and to follow this up, they setup committees that make sure that these policies are strictly practiced. All this, has been a result of efforts by Austrian government to keep their environment clean and setup committees to make sure rules and regulations to protect and keep the environment clean are followed.

Hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions are customarily unblemished. The lakes and rivers are so clean that they are maintained at a Drinking Water quality. You just cannot find litter at any place in Austria just because of the strict regulations against its spread. This puts Austria at number 3 in our list of Cleanest Countries for 2015. A very environment friendly country.

Iceland

Here we have got another country from Europe. Iceland, it’s more about mountains than ice though! Some never ending, massive, huge mountain ranges encompass this wonderful country. It’s one of the cleanest mainly because of the reason it is almost no industrial waste. And that’s probably the biggest factor in ruining the cleanness of a country. On environmental performance index, it has a score of almost 94, and that really is magnificent.

The proof of this comes from the fact that almost 80% of Iceland’s energy consumption comes from the energy generated by the country’s natural resources. One of my personal favorites, Iceland makes this list as the 2nd Cleanest Country of the World in 2015.

Columbia

A country that mostly remained under the Spanish rule, Columbia tops our list of Cleanest Countries for 2014. An amazingly clean and healthy environment has been historically linked with Columbia. Extremely popular among couples as a honeymoon destination, Columbia scores a brilliant 83 in biodiversity and habitat maintenance.

With peace and greenery everywhere, Columbia is probably the best getaway from a stressful and busy life. If you were to go for a real peaceful destination in your spare time, Columbia is just the right package for you with all those relaxing treats. Greenery, peace, life, refreshment, nature, beauty are just a few factors that team up to make Columbia the Cleanest Country of the World.

Thanks!
